I don’t quite understand the explanation here… Can you give us some examples? (Or maybe, what does “as an abstract concept” modify: “a path” or “motion or movement along a path”?)
Sorry, edit failure. Statives are abstracts, so that’s where ‘as an abstract concept’ comes from. A better definition is just to say ‘motion along a path’ as opposed to ‘motion in place’ (which I’m not sure I have a word for at the moment). I’ll try to think of some examples.
