Because all the cool kids are doing it, I am going to spend the next 10 posts discussing the KÄ“len rephrasal of the 1st article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. After that, I’ll continue with some more emotions. So, here goes:
tÅ … tÅ jÄo
This is a coordinating conjunction that is formal and somewhat old-fashioned in usage. The first part (tÅ) introduces a clause (X) and the second part (tÅ jÄo) introduces clause Y, and together denote that because of X, therefore Y, or X therefore Y.
The KÄ“len rephrasal consists of 4 clauses, the first two of which are introduced by tÅ and the third introduced by tÅ jÄo with the fourth clause subordinate to the third.
So you’ll know what’s coming:
tÅ la mÄ“li manaren tÄ“na ñe anhÄ“nÄrÄ«ki anīλi jañÄona jañēie
tÅ pa ñēim tÄ“na Ä“ lenÄrre Ä“ lewÄ“ren
tÅ jÄo hÄ“ja senneñ anÄ“la anciÄ“ri ke mÄn mo mīþa
ien sexe mo maþūskÄ«ri mo sÄim maþūskÄ«riÄ“ma cÄ«;
