I like your word for rice. It would actually be a pretty name, if one wanted to be named after rice. I wouldn’t mind “Rice” as a name. Jerry Rice seemed to do pretty well with it.

I saw Hopi dry farming of maize this summer. Completely a-maize-ing. It grew from just the snow melt held in the sand. Not a drop of rain all summer.
